Nearly a century of designed tableware, flatware and drinkware exploring the ritual and performance of dining.

Drawn from SFMOMA’s Architecture and Design collection, the show gathers plates, cups and utensils spanning almost 100 years to trace how design shapes eating, the body and community. Pieces range from a self-filling wine glass and a teapot made of tea to modernist spoons and flatware made from discarded CDs.

Works by Virgil Abloh, Joe Colombo, Zaha Hadid and Roberto Lugo appear alongside illustrations and textiles by Lucy Stark.
