A seating sculpture of tree-like, brightly colored speakers playing a remixed soundtrack of San Francisco field recordings.
Suzuki’s sculpture invites visitors to sit and listen to a continually remixed soundtrack of natural and urban sounds recorded in and beyond San Francisco. Its tree-like speakers give the work its title, and its bright colors recall Bay Area sunsets and landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge.
The artist layers the local sounds to help people relax and de-stress. It was commissioned alongside the exhibition Art of Noise and is free to see at the top of the stairs.
