Barbara Stauffacher SolomonStrips of Stripes

SFMOMA

Dates not published SoMa

A large-scale supergraphic commission of bold stripes and the letters “OK” painted across the museum’s lobby walls and ceilings.

Stauffacher Solomon’s newest supergraphic links the striped motif of the 1996 Mario Botta building with the open space of the 2016 Snøhetta expansion. Stripes and the letters “OK” run across walls and ceilings, responding to the architecture around them.

She invented supergraphics in the 1960s, first for The Sea Ranch, and designed SFMOMA’s monthly program guides from 1962 to 1972. The work is free to see on Floor 2.
