A sustained becoming: Studio Museum Artists in Residence 2026

Derriann Pharr, Simonette Quamina and Taylor Simmons

The Studio Museum in Harlem

Sep 30, 2026 – Jan 3, 2027

Paintings, collages, prints, drawings and sculpture by the museum’s 2026 artists in residence, the first cohort to work in its new building.

The museum’s 2026 artists in residence, Derriann Pharr, Simonette Quamina and Taylor Simmons, are the first cohort to work in its new building. Each takes a different route into figuration, across painting, collage, printmaking, drawing, sculpture and mixed media.

Their pictures blend the everyday with the imagined, much like memory or dreams, and draw on shared cultural history. The show is organized by assistant curator Adria Gunter.
