New works by Cecilia Vicuña shown with historical works by Leonora Carrington, the first pairing of the two artists.

The show sets Vicuña’s new pieces beside Carrington’s historical paintings and drawings, including a 1954 preliminary drawing for Rueda de los caballos. Both artists draw on myth, ritual and poetry, and on transformation as a way to question fixed ideas of the world.

Vicuña met Carrington in 1969, an encounter that gave her a new method of painting. Organized with Gallery Wendi Norris, the show travels to San Francisco in January 2027.
