New portrait paintings, oil studies on paper and a film of New Yorkers Wiley met on the street, framed by the four seasons.

Wiley approached strangers around New York, on their way to the subway or leaving a drugstore, and invited them to be painted in the clothes they happened to be wearing, with a few additions by stylist Ugo Mozie. The series takes Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons as a metaphor for change and renewal in the city.

The show includes paintings, oil studies on paper and a film following several sitters through their histories. It is Wiley’s fourth exhibition with the gallery and a return to the city that launched his career.
