Luke AgadaWhen the Center Holds

Sean Kelly

Sep 11 – Oct 31, 2026 Hudson Yards

New paintings and drawings by the Lagos-born, Chicago-based Agada, in which ghostly figures and broken architecture drift through dreamlike landscapes.

Agada’s first solo show with the gallery answers the line “the center will not hold” from Yeats’s The Second Coming with a more hopeful reading, treating the center as something kept alive through memory, imagination and connection.

In oils such as Of Tempest, Of Dreams and the paired Manoah I and II, figures lose their solid outlines among shifting buildings and terrain, a way of picturing identity shaped by migration and postcolonial history.
