Sep 11 – Oct 31, 2026 Hudson Yards

Three of McCall’s solid-light installations spanning five decades, from Line Describing a Cone (1973) to Swarm (2026), which premieres in the show.

In McCall’s seventh solo show with the gallery, projected light becomes sculpture that visitors walk into. In Line Describing a Cone (1973), never before shown by the gallery, a projected line takes 30 minutes to trace a full circle, forming a cone of light in a hazy room.

Skylight (2020) casts a shifting cone down onto a plinth to a thunderstorm score by David Grubbs. Swarm (2026), prompted by the spread of drones, turns two cones in opposite directions over 15 minutes to a swelling soundtrack.
