Phung HuynhBite the Hand That Feeds You

Luis De Jesus

Sep 12 – Oct 24, 2026 Arts District

Drawings, paintings and installations by Phung Huynh built around the pink donut box, an emblem of Cambodian refugee labor in California.

Huynh’s third solo show with the gallery includes graphite drawings made directly on pink donut boxes, among them her parents’ wedding and her family at a refugee camp, alongside paintings and installations such as a piece built with a time-punch machine and card rack.

The work looks at the toll behind refugee-run donut shops and turns the title’s idiom against the expectation that refugees stay grateful, taking aim at U.S. resettlement policy and immigration enforcement.
