Jordan CasteelWinter Sun
Casteel’s first exhibition in France: new portraits, landscapes and flower paintings made in 2026.
New portraits, landscapes and flower paintings, made in the first half of 2026 in muted, wintry colors. Sitters range from Casteel’s family and friends to strangers; there is a new picture from her Subway Series and one of her carrying her newborn son, and the title plays on “sun” and “son”.
Several flower paintings were made in her Hudson Valley garden, and larger still lifes deal with memory and mourning. A catalog with an essay by Amandine Nana, a curator at the Palais de Tokyo, accompanies the show.
