New paintings, bronze sculptures and the first pastels Banisadr has shown as work in their own right, made with the Symbolist painter Gustave Moreau in mind.

Banisadr, born in Tehran and based in New York, shows new paintings, sculpture and pastels, alongside his exhibition at the Musée national Gustave Moreau. The canvases are built from hieroglyph-like figures and hybrids first worked out in his sketchbooks, now set among oblique horizons, portals and grid-like screens.

Bronze figures with brushed-on patina stand guard in the gallery, and works in pastel, charcoal and ink on paper are the first pastels he has shown as finished works.
