Oliver Bak
New paintings of spectral figures asleep among floral forms, in the Danish artist’s first US solo show.
Bak builds dense, overlapping layers of mottled brushwork, letting fragments of imagery emerge slowly through successive veils of paint. His new body of work shows ghostly figures drifting into sleep among flowers, treating sleep both as outward bodily stillness and as an inner dreamscape.
The exhibition is Bak’s first solo show at the New York gallery and marks his debut in the United States.
