Jeffrey Deitch

Sep 12 – Oct 31, 2026 SoHo

Rubber casts of street trees, amber pieces, columns and paintings made after the Eaton Fire destroyed Aparicio’s Los Angeles home.

In January 2025 the Eaton Fire, sparked by decommissioned transmission towers, destroyed Aparicio’s Los Angeles home; his first show at 18 Wooster Street gathers the work made since. Rubber casts peeled from ficus trees marked for removal record staple holes, exhaust stains and graffiti, new amber pieces encase objects given to him by residents, and squared tree trunks stand in rows as columns.

In new paintings of the burned landscape, a utility company’s sunburst logo comes together only as the viewer moves. No human figure appears.
