A new site-specific hallway installation of optical line sequences that make flat and three-dimensional space read as each other.
Carey arranges lines in varied sequences that trick the eye into seeing dimension: on a flat surface they can read as three-dimensional, and lines running from floor to wall to ceiling can seem to hang in mid-air from different vantage points. He calls this approach Dimensionalization.
The hallway piece follows his earlier site-specific installations Dimensionalization (2018–2019) and Coalescence (2019–2024). Carey, born in Curaçao and based in Los Angeles, works in line drawing and optical tape.
