Yoko OnoMusic of the Mind
Seven decades of Yoko Ono’s art, from 1950s instruction pieces to recent peace campaigns, much of it completed by visitors.
Organized with Tate Modern, London, this is Ono’s first solo museum exhibition in Southern California. Visitors hammer nails into Painting to Hammer a Nail (1961/1966), pin notes to My Mommy Is Beautiful (2004), cover the white room of Add Colour (Refugee Boat) in blue, and tie wishes to the plaza’s olive trees for Wish Tree for Los Angeles (1996).
Films and documents include Cut Piece (1964), FILM NO. 4 (‘BOTTOMS’) and material from the Acorn Event and the 1969 Bed-In with John Lennon.
