Group exhibition
The Brockman Gallery: Los Angeles, 1967–1990
The first large exhibition on the Brockman Gallery, the South L.A. space where David Hammons, Suzanne Jackson and Carrie Mae Weems got early support.
The brothers Alonzo and Dale Brockman Davis opened the gallery after the Watts Rebellion, and it became a hub for young artists of color. More than 60 works across media, all tied to the Davises’ community-minded project, hang with archival material on how the space fostered experiment, debate and a mixed community from 1967 to 1990.
