Paul R. WilliamsArchitect for Living
Drawings and photographs from the archive of Los Angeles architect Paul R. Williams, many never shown before.
The show surveys the career of Paul R. Williams, a Los Angeles native and the most prominent Black American architect of his generation, active from the 1920s to the early 1970s. It spans homes for the famous, civic and religious buildings, public housing, and hotels from Southern California to Las Vegas and Latin America.
Archival drawings and photographs, many never exhibited, make up the display. LACMA’s presentation runs alongside projects at the Getty Research Institute and USC Fisher Museum of Art.
