Oct 11, 2026 – Feb 28, 2027 Westwood
The first major museum survey of the Jamaican-born abstract painter Mavis Pusey, with more than 60 works from a 50-year career.
Pusey (1928–2019) made geometric abstract paintings, prints and works on paper that draw on fashion, printmaking and the cities she lived in. Her Broken Construction series (1960s–1990s), which treats destruction and renewal as figures for social change, hangs with photographs, personal notes and archival material. The survey was organized by ICA Philadelphia and the Studio Museum in Harlem and curated by Hallie Ringle; Jessi DiTillio oversees the Hammer’s presentation.
