Solo exhibition
Kandinsky
Sep 15, 2026 – Feb 14, 2027 Piazza Venezia
More than 70 works from the bequest of Kandinsky’s widow, Nina, to the Centre Pompidou: Rome’s first big Kandinsky show in over 25 years.
Curated by Angela Lampe, the show follows Kandinsky in five sections from his early career as a lawyer in Moscow to his place among the pioneers of abstraction, with works including Black Arc (1912) and Gelb-Rot-Blau (1925). The Pompidou could lend so many because it is closed for renovation.
A section introduces Gabriele Münter, his companion and an Expressionist painter in her own right, shown in Italy for the first time. Letters, photographs and documents fill in the story.
