Metamorfosi. Ovidio e le arti

Galleria Borghese

Jun 23 – Oct 11, 2026 Villa Borghese

Closed

More than 80 works on Ovid’s Metamorphoses, from Correggio, Michelangelo and Titian to Rodin and Brancusi, set around Bernini’s mythological sculptures.

Made with the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, the show follows Ovid’s poem through the creation of the world, love and the underworld, and through the Ovide moralisé, the medieval retelling that shaped Renaissance images of the myths. Sections on Proserpina, Arachne, Leda, Pygmalion and Perseus are set among Bernini’s Apollo and Daphne, his Pluto and Proserpina and the museum’s other mythological works. Curated by Francesca Cappelletti and Frits Scholten; extended to October 11.
