Photographs and photoromans by the Ivorian photographer Paul Kodjo, documenting Abidjan in the 1970s.

The first major solo show in France for Paul Kodjo (1939–2021), one of the first African photographers to make photoromans, romantic comedies told in staged photographs. Pages from those published from 1971 in the weekly Ivoire Dimanche hang with a wider, mostly unexhibited body of work.

It follows him from Paris back to Abidjan, where he founded the MAMEDIS agency, and through his pictures of the city’s nightlife, fashion and social life in the boom years. Co-produced with Les Rencontres d’Arles.
