Claude MonetMonet, peindre le temps
Nearly forty Monet paintings tracing how he handled time, from Impressionist instants through the 1890s series to the Water Lilies, for the centenary of his death.
Marking 100 years since Monet’s death in 1926, the show gathers close to forty paintings, mostly from the Musée d’Orsay and the Musée Marmottan Monet, with French and international loans. It moves from his quick outdoor Impressionist painting, through the series of haystacks, poplars, mornings on the Seine and Rouen Cathedral, to the Water Lilies cycle, whose great panels fill the museum’s own oval rooms.
Curated by Cécile Girardeau and Sophie Eloy and organized with Tate Modern, where it travels in 2027.
