Jennifer GuidiWaterfall
New oil-and-sand paintings of shorelines, mountains and waterfalls, each lit by a radiant sun or moon, with small works on paper.
The paintings, in oil and sand on linen, draw on landscapes Guidi has seen or imagined: beaches, hills and mountain ranges, placid oceans and cascading waterfalls, with a sun or moon at the center of each. She describes trying to gather the feeling of standing in nature while aware that the world is much larger than we are.
The pictures are built from accumulated brushstrokes of saturated pinks, violets, oranges and yellows set against the blues and greens of water and the white of falling water; the gallery likens the method to the dots of Pointillism in Seurat and Signac. Small framed watercolor and gouache works on paper from 2025 hang with the large canvases.
