Giorgio de ChiricoThe Contemporary Enigma

Paintings by Giorgio de Chirico shown alongside works by contemporary artists who draw on his Metaphysical legacy, including new commissions.

Closing Mazzoleni’s 40th-anniversary celebrations, the show presents major works by de Chirico, whose paintings have been central to the family’s collecting and to the gallery’s activity. They are set against pieces by established and contemporary artists who have reworked his style and motifs from the 1930s to today, suggesting a “continuous Metaphysics.”

Nunzio, Paolini and Senatore made new works for the occasion. Francolino and Astore each curate an installation of their own work, and do Espírito Santo contributes previously unseen pieces.
