Salvatore Astore and Marinella Senatore
Paintings and a sculpture by Salvatore Astore alongside Marinella Senatore’s painted prints, both on the body as presence and trace.
Astore is shown through his late-1990s Bambine paintings, pared-down figures of children set in rarefied colour, and the large Nudo of 1994, a woman seen from behind against a red ground. A sculpture from his Speciazione series adds the idea of identity as ongoing transformation.
Senatore’s works treat the body as relational and political. Un Corpo Unico combines printed figurative fragments with painted layers, while Autoritratto overpaints a photograph of her own hand holding a sheet of paper.
