Raphael EgilNoon Performance
Paintings in tempera and oil of theater stages, curtains, chessboards and jockeys, in which figures act without a clear story.
Two monumental paintings, Stage and Talking (2026), set a dark curtain, a stage, flowers and a lone figure in a theater whose performance stays suspended. Elsewhere figures sit, fall, gesture or compete without a fixed before or after, and Egil’s recurring jockey remains in his pose after the horse has gone.
The works range from large tempera paintings to small, quick oils, all keeping the directness of a sketch. Egil, who lives near Lucerne, has previously shown solo at YveYANG.
