Opening soon

Fashion by designers Willy Chavarria and Bárbara Sánchez-Kane, two queer designers of Mexican heritage, shown together by theme.

The exhibition places the work of Willy Chavarria and Bárbara Sánchez-Kane in dialogue, tracing how their identities as queer designers of Mexican heritage shape their collections. Desire runs through both bodies of work: sensual and libidinal, but also a longing for belonging, resistance and visibility.

Organized thematically, it pairs pieces by both designers around shared aesthetics and ideas, with fluid section boundaries and bilingual texts nodding to their binational roots. It is curated by Tanya Meléndez-Escalante, the museum’s senior curator of education and public programs.
