Nick ThommNew Works
Abstract paintings of glossy color blocks and glowing lightbox works that fill the Bowery gallery with colored light.
Thomm’s paintings are built from dense, glossy lozenges of color, and his lightbox works take that glow literally, casting colored light around the rooms and onto visitors. He draws on California Light and Space, contemporary design and car culture, using hidden light sources, protective resin, slick printing and very smooth paint.
It is his second solo show with The Hole; he first appeared there in the 2024 group show Sudden Synethesia at the Los Angeles gallery. Thomm was born in Melbourne in 1988 and divides his time between Melbourne and Los Angeles.
