New paintings of female nudes tangled together in groups, their limbs merging, in a show named for the Spanish term for checkmate.

BanBan turns her long study of the female body toward the places where bodies meet: her women press against, prop up and twist into one another until it is hard to say whose arm or knee is whose. In Inter Corpora three nudes fuse into a single form; in Magna Mater, named for the ancient mother goddess, skewed faces and smeared flesh recall Chaïm Soutine.
