Malcolm PeacockOf the sacred and eternal blessing

Sikkema Malloy Jenkins

Sep 10 – Oct 24, 2026 Chelsea

Suspended sculptures, braided reliefs and graphite drawings made with hand-braided synthetic hair, inspired by time spent in Pacific Northwest forests.

Peacock braids synthetic hair by hand into suspended sculptures and wall reliefs, and joins it to graphite drawings, some fitted with sneakers. Many of the works grow out of two summers he spent in the forests of the Pacific Northwest.

He treats braiding, like running and talking, as a durational practice for thinking about trust, intimacy and interdependence among Black subjects. It is his first solo show with the gallery and in New York.
