Drawings, paintings and sculpture by eight artists who use the house and autobiography to record the self.

Organized by Ivy Shapiro and anchored in her childhood memories, the show brings together work by Jennifer Bartlett, Jonathan Borofsky, Robert Gober, David Hammons, Kazuko Miyamoto, Ree Morton, Elizabeth Murray and Joel Shapiro. Houses recur, from Shapiro’s small cast sculptures to Bartlett’s dotted steel plates and Gober’s dollhouses.

Hammons’s body prints, Miyamoto’s woven pieces and Morton’s narrative drawings offer other ways of recording the self. Shapiro and Borofsky both first showed at the gallery in 1969, the year Ivy Shapiro was born.
