Teresa MurtaA Taste of Doubt
New acrylic paintings in which bodies dissolve into landscapes and clashing color threatens the harmony it seems to promise.
Murta’s new acrylic paintings on linen and canvas balance earthy grounds against sudden pinks, blues and acid greens, so bodies seem to slide toward landscape, flesh toward vegetation, and vegetation toward paint itself.
Painted from close range, with little room to step back and survey the whole image, the works favor fragments and shifting edges over a single fixed viewpoint. It is Murta’s first show at Nicodim’s New York gallery, following a group exhibition there earlier in 2026.
