Edith DekyndtNotes on What is What

Marian Goodman Gallery

Sep 10 – Oct 24, 2026 Tribeca

Sculpture, textiles and video linking Fogo Island and Ibiza, after Aldous Huxley’s utopian novel Island, in Dekyndt’s first solo show with the gallery.

Starting from Huxley’s 1962 novel of a sheltered island society, the Belgian artist gathers material from Fogo Island, off Newfoundland, where she held a 2024 residency, and from Ibiza. Fishing ropes from Fogo fused with glass lie in vitrines near 3D-printed forms built onto olive, pine and petrified wood, sheepskin and pelts.

A large tapestry copies boat carpets found on Fogo, a fabric spent months buried underground on Ibiza, and the video Animal Methods, drawn from her research into invasive species there, compares how animals and humans behave.
