Pierre SoulagesPaintings on Paper
Sep 17 – Oct 24, 2026 Upper East Side
More than twenty of Soulages’s paintings on paper in walnut stain, gouache and ink, most of them never exhibited before.
Organized with the artist’s widow, Colette Soulages, the show is the sixth Soulages exhibition presented by Dominique Lévy. Paper was the French painter’s first support, from the mid-1940s, and he kept up a body of paper works alongside his canvases, often working out ideas there before taking them into oil. Works on view range from a 1977 gouache to walnut-stain sheets from 1999 and 2003.
