Xintong GaoWhat Refuses to Settle
New abstract paintings on linen, including wave-like works, that hover between movement and recognizable form.
Gao’s paintings are built through layering, interruption and erasure, with spontaneous-looking gestures set beside carefully constructed passages. Hints of bodies, landscapes, water and atmosphere surface and dissolve, so recognition stays provisional. Several works belong to his ongoing Wave Collection, where wave forms swell, fold and collapse across the linen.
The Bologna-based painter draws on Italian Futurism and on the Chinese idea of qi, or vital energy. This is his second solo show with the gallery, following Whispers of Velocity (2024).
