Becky SussNight House

New paintings of imagined houses at night, empty of people and painted in blacks, grays and deep blues.

Suss, whose palette is usually bright and saturated, turns here to the night. The series opens with Night Garden, a house seen from outside by moonlight, then moves through rooms where patterned wallpaper, crowded bookshelves and ornaments hint at absent occupants, and windows look out on a landscape in bloom or frozen.

Suss was born in Philadelphia in 1980 and lives there.
