Masaaki NodaFROM FORM TO FORCE

New cast stainless steel sculptures and layered paintings by Masaaki Noda, drawn from nearly fifty years of work.

Noda’s new mirror-finished sculptures are cast in stainless steel, a method that allows complex interior spaces where reflected light turns the inside of each work into a space of its own. Paintings from the Evolution and Spiral Interaction series, built from translucent layers of color, carry the same idea onto a flat surface.

The show traces his shift from geometric form to the depiction of force, beginning with 1970s silkscreens. It is his first solo exhibition with the gallery.
