Joseph Yaeger’s first solo show in the United States: watercolors on gessoed linen drawn from cropped film stills and photographs.

Each painting begins with a film still or photograph that Yaeger crops and alters until its source is hard to place, though it still feels familiar. Several take in studio debris such as charging cables, eyeglasses, paintbrushes and coins, which stand out from the surface in relief. A new book of the same title, written before the paintings as the show’s framework, accompanies it.
