Misha KahnAll Intensive Purposes
New sculpture and furniture in cast metal, glass, onyx, marble, copper, plywood and upholstery, made by Misha Kahn.
The title bends the phrase “all intents and purposes” to stress the intensity of the making over any fixed end. Kahn builds objects through layered material experiments, letting incidental outcomes feed back in. Works include a cast metal dining table with a sculpted torn napkin and a glass and stone top, a low table carved from onyx, upholstered pieces that look sculpted from paint, Alpi plywood works, copper knitted chandeliers and Calacatta marble drapery.
The show marks a decade of Kahn’s collaboration with the gallery.
