David Kennedy CutlerVessels
Inkjet-transfer and acrylic paintings and a shipping-crate sculpture bursting with flowers, built around containers of all kinds.
Cutler’s paintings and single sculpture start from photographs of everyday objects on a studio backdrop, then become hybrids through inkjet transfer and acrylic on canvas. Paintings break their frames and expose their insides; the sculpture is a stretcher built to carry an image-covered canvas.
Subjects include water-filled vases, paint-splattered work clothes and, at the center, a decommissioned shipping crate with oversized zippers, from which flowers burst. It is his sixth solo show with the gallery.
