Gerhard MarxLandscape would be the wrong word

Everard Read London

Oct 14 – Nov 7, 2026 Chelsea

Cartographic reconstructions and drawings made entirely from embedded plant material, blending maps, botany and architecture.

Marx fragments and reassembles maps to question the authority they project and to open new ways of imagining the territories they describe. His plant drawings embed and graft plant fragments, recalling the herbarium, into dense, tactile surfaces drawn from within the landscape rather than at a distance from it.

The show looks at sketches, models, floor plans and garden layouts as ways of remaking the world by describing it differently. It is his first exhibition with Everard Read London.
