Yuko MohriIn Concert

A new kinetic installation of light, sound and everyday objects, including items from the Barbican itself, that reacts to the gallery’s conditions.

Mohri’s commission for The Curve combines light, sound and kinetic sculpture with objects drawn from the Barbican. Her work typically pairs ordinary things, from umbrellas and feather dusters to apples and xylophones, with unstable forces such as magnetism, humidity, air, water and gravity.

The installation keeps changing in response to the gallery’s atmosphere, taking up entropy, transience and renewal in step with the Barbican’s current renovation.
