Ry RocklenDesert Lenses
Sep 12 – Oct 24, 2026 Melrose Hill
Glazed ceramic sculptures of everyday objects that carry photographs of the high desert around Joshua Tree, with family members’ socks cast in aluminum and paper.
Rocklen remakes familiar things such as rocking chairs, drying racks, shopping carts and abandoned cars in ceramic, using photography, mold-making and glaze decals so that each surface carries an image of the desert near his home in Joshua Tree.
A second group of works casts socks worn by members of his family in aluminum and paper, faceless portraits of the people who live there. It is his second solo show with the gallery.
