New photo-based paintings built from damaged archival photographs, printed imagery and hand-painted acrylic, in Fasnacht’s first solo show with the gallery.

Heide Fasnacht starts from old archival photographs marked by scratches, folds, water damage and fading, and treats those flaws as new terrain. Each painting on wood panel layers digitally altered prints, visible printer ink and passages of acrylic, so earlier images stay buried under later ones like strata.

A single damaged photograph often yields several paintings, as in the Lake Gloriette works in yellow, red and violet.
