A group show of the gallery’s artists working between abstraction and representation, in paintings, works on paper and textile pieces.

Works by Aaron Glasson, Chris Johanson, Suchitra Mattai, Evan Nesbit, Wendy Red Star, Brenna Youngblood and others use color, light, material and texture to get at things hard to put into words.

Glasson paints with pigment, sand and beeswax; Johanson’s canvases recall frescoes and mandalas; Mattai combines worn saris with found beads and objects; Nesbit works in dyed burlap and yarn; Red Star paints heirloom rawhide cases on paper, from research into Apsáalooke history; Youngblood’s thick canvases verge on sculpture.
