Kiki SmithUntethered Journey

Historical and recent sculptures, wall works and paper installations by Kiki Smith on the body, animals and the cosmos.

Presented jointly by Pace and Jeffrey Deitch at Deitch’s gallery, this is Smith’s first Los Angeles solo show in thirty years. Bronze, papier mâché, beeswax, resin and fiberglass figures expose the body’s insides, among them Virgin Mary, Blood Pool, the Moon on Crutches series and the 1989 “red room” of hanging paper figures.

Wall works, the stained-glass Sybills, recent bronze owls and goats, and the floor piece Stars and Scat sit alongside them. It is Smith’s sixteenth solo exhibition with Pace.
