(Almost) Every Year: Sixty Years of Printmaking at Gemini G.E.L.

37 artists including Josef Albers, Jasper Johns, David Hockney, Ed Ruscha, Richard Serra, Robert Rauschenberg, Tacita Dean and Julie Mehretu (curated by Susan Dackerman and Helen Molesworth)

Gemini G.E.L.

Sep 10, 2026 – Jan 8, 2027 West Hollywood

Gemini G.E.L.’s 60th-anniversary show: prints and multiples from nearly every year since the workshop opened in 1966, hung in chronological order.

Curators Susan Dackerman and Helen Molesworth chose about forty editions by 37 artists, roughly one from each year of the workshop’s history, rather than each artist’s best-known prints. Arranged by decade, they run from Josef Albers, Frank Stella and Jasper Johns in the late 1960s to Julie Mehretu, Tacita Dean, Thomas Demand and Analia Saban today.

Threads through the show include everyday objects turned into art, from Johns’s light bulb to Ed Ruscha’s cheese, and a long run of experiments with color.
