Amol K PatilThe Piled Up Traces

François Ghebaly

Sep 19 – Oct 31, 2026 Arts District

Bronze and kinetic sculptures and ink wall drawings in a dimly lit installation about caste and class in Mumbai’s chawls.

Patil models figures in clay and casts them in bronze, finishing them with a skin-like patina. Cast hands and feet emerge from rough, abstract masses that suggest a collective body. Bare bulbs light the room, and one kinetic piece lowers and raises a bulb through a small bronze mound of dirt and limbs.

Pen-and-ink grisaille drawings on MDF coated in wall base paint evoke scenes of daily life glimpsed through cracks in chawl walls. This is Patil’s first show with the gallery and his first in Los Angeles, following its debut at the 12th SITE Santa Fe.
