Jean-Luc MylayneReflection
Large color photographs of birds in Texas landscapes, made between 2005 and 2008, with shifting focus and no single vantage point.
Each photograph by Mylayne, made with his partner Mylène, takes months of patient work. Most of these were conceived during a residency in Marfa, Texas, where the blue of water, sky and sometimes the birds themselves drew him. Mountain bluebirds, a nuthatch and an eastern phoebe appear, some sharp, some nearly lost in blur.
The titles give only months and year, never place or species. The show is presented during Berlin Art Week and reads the images as a meditation on the Anthropocene and on looking without dominating.
