Thomas ScheibitzFiguren unter Einfluss
New paintings and sculptures, with historical works, built around the figure as a loose, half-abstract presence.
Scheibitz treats the figure as a genre signal rather than a portrait of anyone. Shapes gather into something like a face or body, familiar yet strange: spindly zoomorphic silhouettes, biomorphic assemblages between machine and man, and features reduced to basic geometry, set among color fields and architectonic forms.
The show continues a long-running theme in his work, the relationship of the individual to reality and how visual messages shape it.
